Gymnastics Cheerleading and Dance Foundation is pleased to announce we have finished negotiating and signed agreements to begin work in Egypt through our Child Sponsorship Program. Our focus will be on all disciplines of Gymnastics.

We have appointed well-known Gymnastics Blogger Gigi Farid of WOGymnastika to the position of Branch Manager for our operations in Egypt. Gigi has graduated University and has significant experience with Office Administration and Translation services. This, along with her expertise and passion for the sport of Gymnastics, gave us the confidence in her abilities to work for our organization.

Gigi's responsibility will be to oversee all of our operations in Egypt, including staff administration, visitation and inspection of participating clubs for compliance with grant terms, liaison of our organization to local and regional governmental agencies, and distribution of funds to participating clubs.

We will initially begin work with 3 Sports Clubs. One club is based in Alexandria and two are in Cairo. Overall, the clubs cover both Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics. Afterwords, we will take steps to expand participation throughout the country.

As we begin, we will not be able to work with nonprofit clubs (which there are only a few of), but limit work to commercial clubs. This is due to registration requirements to engage in cooperate agreements with Egyptian nonprofits. The cost of registration is estimated to be $16,000 a year, and therefore our organization will cooperate only with nonprofit clubs when we are able to afford this registration fee.

In light of our work with Commercial Clubs, we will not be issuing grants. We will however help cover expenses for athletes at participating clubs directly, comparable to how boosters clubs support athletes at commercial gyms in the USA.
